Day Respite Community Wellbeing Centres

Based around a household model, our community wellbeing centres in Perth, Albany and Mandurah provide an evidence based therapeutic environment that seeks to maximise wellbeing in the person with dementia. Providing a wide range of meaningful activities based on the person's strengths, identity and interests, the centres provide meaningful engagement, stimulation and friendship in specially designed dementia enabling environments.

Our centres provide the only Eden Alternative registered day centre environments in WA and give the family a short break whilst providing an enriching experience for the person with dementia.

How we can provide quality and tailored services to you.

We will work closely with you to understand your situation and provide the quality support that you need. This can be provided through a home care package or disability package or individually funded.

If you have reached your limit or are not eligible for government funded services, or wish to pay for additional support tailored to your needs, we have a range of services to assist you. 

You do not need a referral and there is no waiting list.

We offer coordinated and quality services, tailored to meet your specific care needs.

These services are ideal for:

  • Busy families in need extra support for a parent or loved one living with dementia.
  • People who may not be eligible for government funded services or who wish to ‘top up’ the services they are already receiving.
  • People who require one- off service or support on an ongoing basis.
  • People who need extra support to enable then to remain at home for longer.

Metropolitan Respite Options 

Centre-based Respite 

Mary Chester Centre, Shenton Park operates six days a week between 10am and 3pm.

Ella’s House, Mandurah operates two days a week between 10am and 3pm. 

As a new day centre, Ella’s House will be working towards gaining Eden registration.

Social Support Groups

Available at various sites across Perth and Mandurah.  Our clubs provide respite and social interaction for groups of people with dementia, a variety of outings are offered to support members in accessing the community.  These groups are facilitated by trained support workers.

In Home Respite and Individual Social Support

Respite and social support is offered for the person with dementia and their family, either in their home or in the community, on a one-to-one basis with support provided by a trained support worker.

Regional Respite Options 

We provide a selection of support services throughout the Wheatbelt, Great Southern and Goldfields regions.  Our Regional teams will also assist families in accessing other community based respite services. The teams are located in Albany, Kalgoorlie, and York.

Centre-based Respite

Hawthorn House House, Albany operates six days a week between 10am and 3pm.

Family carers are invited to visit for regular support meetings and to attend educational workshops.  

Hawthorn House also offers limited overnight respite.

In Home Respite and Individual Social Support

Respite and social support is offered for the person with dementia and their family, either in their home or in the community, on a one-to-one basis with support provided by a trained support worker.  

Education and Support
Our regional teams are able to visit families in their own home to offer education and support.  Further education may be accessed through our Education department.
